The county seat in the region of Philadelphia County, the city of Philadelphia has a population of more than one and a half million residents and lies in the state of Pennsylvania. The majority of Philadelphia stands on an area of land sandwiched between both Delaware River and Schuylkill River.

Philadelphia's main area is the Center City district, which almost stretches to both of the bordering rivers. Much of this area of Philadelphia is dominated by the magnificent city hall, which is known for its eye-catching statue of William Penn. Other highlights in the Center City area of Philadelphia include an extensive selection of shops, places to eat and impressive buildings.

On the east side of Philadelphia you will find the popular Old City region, which contains many notable landmarks and historical structures. Old City Philadelphia is home to the Independence National Historic Park, a historic area famous throughout the United States. Further east lies the Penn's Landing area of Philadelphia, where the founder of the city, William Penn, first arrived along the Delaware River. With a lively waterfront park and a range of entertainment on offer, Penn's Landing is not to be missed. Other notable areas of Philadelphia worth visiting include the trendy South Street, the colonial Rittenhouse Square, and the Manayuk district, famed for its restaurants.
